Deceitful warranty practices.

I purchased a ring and sales person advised me to get a lifetime service plan. Made sense so I purchased it.

Wore the ring for one month and lost a diamond. Returned it to store where purchased. They had ring for 6 weeks, 2 weeks past the estimated time. Got the call about ring, went to pick it up and was advised they decided the ring couldn't be repaired or it wasn't worth them to do it.

Then they told me they would only refund the price of the rind and not the lifetime warranty!!! Imagine my surprise.... I don't have the ring, basically never used the lifetime warranty because they didn't repair the ring as promised when I purchased it. As you can imagine this did not go well for them....

after 5 managers and my unrelenting insistence a manager finally overrode the refund, saying she was probably going to be in trouble for doing so. And then to add insult to injury, she was unable to refund the tax I paid for something I was forced to return because of their decision not to repair the ring... I just can't fathom that a Corperation would even have such a policy in place let alone employees having to worry about doing the right thing!!! And then after standing my ground, they told me, even though I had paid cash they were only able to give me a store gift card as a refund, all's I could do at that point t was laugh hysterically.

Most certainly not sales person or managers fault, they were just doing there jobs.... sadly!!! So know I have a store gift card in my wallet that I will use at some point but it is highly likely that is the last money they will get from me.... I'll cancel my 2 Credit Cards I have with them as I shopped there frequently...

it occurred to me that many JCPenney stores are closing... my experience certainly explains to me why this is happening.

Corporate greed, scamming customers and forcing staff to rip off customers. Not a place I choose to spend my hard earned money.

User's recommendation: DO NOT BUY JEWELRY AT JCPENNEY'S.

Monetary Loss: $50.
