I can see why JCPenney is struggling with their business. There customer service is awful.

I placed an online order on 5/9. I check my order status on 5/17 and see one of my items is back ordered and will not ship until 6/4. I go to their website to see if it says back ordered, and it does with an estimated ship date of 5/22-5/28. I call customer service (on5/17) to find out why the dates are so different.

She explains the different warehouses (which I find ridiculous). She replaces the order and says she will expedite ship them and they should arrive in 3-4 days. Today is day 5. I check my order status and see the order has been cancelled.

I called customer service and an told it was cancelled on 5/18 (less than 24 hours after the order was placed) because it was back ordered. I asked why I never received any type of notification. She did not have any answer for that. She said she found some and they are available to ship on 5/29.

The items were never mentioned as out of stock when I ordered them originally. I will no longer do any type of business with this company.

They fail to ship items in a timely manner, fail to notify customers of back ordered items, and have many issues managing their inventory. I'd rather pay more and receive my items when expected, than pay less and hope I get them by the time I need them.

Reason of review: Order processing issue.

Location: San Antonio, Texas

Every online retailer on the planet can and does experience back orders. You are not the only one shopping.

There is not one magical warehouse for every retailer. Best Buy has 4 different major ones, and Walmart.com has 9 (if I remember correct). Products come to online retailers from a majority of places, sometimes they come from the manufacturer itself. If you choose not to wait for an item, ask for a refund.

Remember though that online shopping is NOT instant gratification, and you should NEVER buy something online you need in less than a month. Also remember that online retailers by law have 30 days to ship an order or refund.

I understand back orders will happen. But if I speak with someone and am told it will ship the next day because it is available and less than 24 hours later the order is cancelled without any notice, that is completely unacceptable.
