Jcpenney - Late fees

While still trying to contest a $25.oo late fee I was just hit with a $37.oo late fee and $2.oo interest fee on a $35.oo balance. Yes I cancelled the card and will be filing complaints with every agency I can. I will NEVER deal with JCP credit or stores again. I had gone into the local store and paid cash. I was 5.oo short of the minimum payment. I paid the entire balance the next day on line. When the next statement arrived I had a $25.00 late fee. I contacted JCP and they were not interested in listening to any thing I said. I cancelled the card.

You cannot seriously think late fees don't apply to everyone, can you?

Here is some advice...pay your obligation in full BEFORE the due date and you wont need to worry about late fees.

I totally agree with you about JC Penney that's why when they rejected me over 30 years ago for a credit card I never dealt with them again!!

Jcpenney - JC Penney credit customer no service

A parent died, and I am in the process of cancelling credit cards. After two card companies made the process very easy for me, I called JC Penney's credit customer (no) service. Getting a human was aggravating, and I went through about 4 menus before I was finally sent on to a live rep. The first rep had no idea as to help me, put me on hold, then managed to bump me off the connection. I repeated all of that process. Now I got a young man who asked me several questions that I did not mind answering, to give my home address and name, plus verify my parent's social security number and date of birth. He then told me that he could not help me unless I faxed or mailed a power of attorney on the surviving spouse (elderly, ailing). I have that, but why on earth did two companies simply take the info and cancel the card, while JC Penney is asking for info that so far only banks and pension funds have wanted? Utterly ridiculous, and makes straightening out my parents' affairs frustratingly complicated!

Jcpenney in Dallas, Texas - Custom Drapery Order

JCPenney processes are old and antiquated.I ordered custom draperies which it turned out the fabric was not available, so I cancelled that part of the order. It looks like they still billed me for the entire order. I have been trying to find out how they handled the adjustment for several weeks. The decorators do not have anything to do with billing adjustments. The schedulars are not available. So who can you help! It is impossible to find anyone who can help on a simple customer billing matter. The people are nice - which is about the only good thing I can say. Wake up Penney's - it's the 21st century! When an adjustment is made, I think the customer should receive some written document that shows clearly the amount of the adjustment. Is this too much to ask. I am tired of chasing this matter and have just decided to have credit card company bill the whole thing back to Penney's. Maybe that will get some attention!

Try calling customer service they usually can help more with billing then.in.store. in store has limited access to accounts. And you get billed when items are shipped if you order online.

Jcpenney in Dubuque, Iowa - Customer service

My Mother has had a Penney's credit card since 1977. When she tried to use it the sales person said there was a block on it because they had not received the payment yet. . So I called the 800 and canceled it for that reason. There were charges for things like Life insurance and something else she did not want. You would think after 36 years it would not make any difference. She has always made Her payments .I always get her Penney's card for her Birthday and Christmas. So I guess we will no longer shop at Penney's. We will no longer shop there.

Jcpenney in Camden, New Jersey - Mrs. Starn

I was at the mall in Penneys looking at clearance of womens clothing. Once I found what I wanted, I couldn't find where to pay for my purchase. The register that was at the entrance is gone. I went to pocketbooks dept and the sales lady rung up one lady purchases and then left with me standing there. I went to entrance again and asked where to pay for things. Was told I could pay for it there. My purchase only came to $8, I pulled out cash and was informed she couldn't take cash only credit cards. So I had to put my $8 purchase on a card. She asked if I wanted a receipt and I said yes. She left to find out where my receipt printed. I was so discussed I left. It was a shame because I like to new prices of things in your store-sale price all the time. BUt because of this experience I will not be shopping at Penneys

I think they are in transition and its confusing for the customer and the sales people. I was in the store last week and liked what I saw.

It was a hassle for them to walk away to get the receipt but the store is looking good. I'm holding off on passing judgement until the stores are finished.

Jcpenney in Amarillo, Texas - Pissed too

I, like so many other working women, loved east5th pants and St Johns bay clothing. My husband and I went to the local store and after walking all of the women's clothing "areas" we gave up and left without spending any money. I didn't see anything for a woman my age. Everything is for teenagers. Nothing for a mature woman. Penney's you really stepped in "it" and I'm finished. I will pay off my credit card this month and the card will go into the shredder. I will miss shopping at Penney's and loved the quality of your products. Good bye.

I too am looking for East 5th Pants. Looks like the JC Penny buyers don't understand a good product that brings "Women" in the store.

Think about it.

Every time a pant is bought, a blouse or a few tops are probably bought.

Simple sales concept! The pants were a draw to JC Penny.

From what I have been hearing on the news there is a possibility that Penny's will be done by the end of the year. That being said, from looking at their ads I agree most of their clothes aren't at all professional looking and there are young women that do need professional clothes.

Also I have two grandaughters in their early 20s and they and their friends won't shop at Penny's because the styles aren't whatever the current term is with young people. I will just use the word "cool".

Get used to it. They are looking for the younger buyer . Their days of catering to conservativesenior , mature adults are over for the time being.

Jcpenney in Maple Grove, Minnesota - Couldnt buy my selection

I've never in my life have seen this before, but today 2/21/2013 at 10:20 AM I went to check out the pair odf pants I selected. The lady took my credit card and began searching for the bar code. There was none. She said "there is no bar code". I looked at her and she looked at me. Nothing happened. She didn't call to get the price or do anything more for the sale. After the staring ended, I said "OK thanks anyway". Bought a pair with no hassle at Kohl's. Geeeze. Jcpenney in Albany, New York - Made a payment early, now accused of not paying

As I do with other credit cards and bills, I made a payment when I go paid. My payment was due by December 23rd, I paid it on November 28th. I was accused of not making a December payment and was assessed a late fee. When I called and complained they took off the late fee but have insisted that a make double payment now by February 23rd. They insisted that I must make at least one payment per month and that the second payment even though after the due date of November 23rd still counted for November not December. My bill accuses me of missing a payment an I am being treated as if I missed a payment even though I didn't and the late fee was rescinded. They would not compromise, they'd rather lose a customer. I told them to close my account and told the woman what I though. She didn't like that.

Nearly all credit cards are like this. The extra payment comes off your principle. READ your credit agreements.

@Andrea

I disagree with you. I make a few different payments to other companies and do not have this problem.

The one other card I have that is like Penney, clearly states it on the bill. Since Penney's gives you a choice of dates for the payment when made on line, a simple statement regarding early payments would be helpful.

Regardless of their policy, when you are going belly up maybe a little understanding instead of reproach would be helpful.

@Mr Ed

It depends on the type of card. Department store cards have different terms and cycles than revolving credit cards simple line of credit cards, like Visa or Mastercard.

Again, like I said, read the terms of the account.

If you need to have your hand held to own a credit card that you refuse to take responsibility for, then you deserve reproach. And if you take information and advice as reproach, then you are clearly too *** young to even have a credit cared.

O Yea! Never make a payment to early at JC Penny's.

If your payment(example)is due March 20th and you decided to pay it like February 28th (staying ahead of the game) they will not look upon that Feb 28th as March payment. This happen to me once.

Yea, I know..dumb isnt it? :roll

Jcpenney in Slidell, Louisiana - WTH are they doing?

As a housewife and student and mother that shopped JCP online and in store frequently, I see a major difference in JCP service, products, credit card (they are holding their customers hostage with a very high interest rate, will not let the customer transfer their balances to another card and you can no longer make a payment on your card with a major credit card). I am appalled at the way they have changed everything! On top of that, their customer service is outsourced to another country in the Philippians. I will not be a frequent shopper at JCP any longer and will only pay my balance down to get it paid off. I will not add another penny to their high rate card. They could not even help me to decline the offer from the other credit card issuers that were trying to do a balance transfer on my behalf. So, that is held up now as well. UGH! Horrible experience. I cannot believe Ellen DeGeneres promotes JCP. Just read that their Credit Card rating went from a A to a -BB rating in Nov, 2013

JCP doesn't outsource their customer service. The credit card company may, but customer service is handled in Kansas, Ohio, and Wisconsin.

JCPenney

I had a $54.00 minimum payment due on my JCPenney credit card. In an attempt to boost my credit score, I sent in a $500.00 payment on time. As a reward for my "generous" payment, they reduced my limit by approximately $800.00. putting me within $80.00 of my credit limit, 1 week before Christmas! When I called them, they told me it was a result of them looking @ my credit score, not my payment history with them. That information came from a supervisor! Now I'm starting to see why people file bankruptcy, and don't pay these crooks.
