Jcpenney in Summerville, South Carolina - Interest Rate Hike with Higher Min. Payments

I have had an account at JC Penney for many years. Today I received notice that they were increasing my interest rate, decreasing the time in which I can make payment after receiving the monthly bill and increasing the payment amount on my balance. All this is legal and with the economy what it is, I don't know if I will be able to maintain my credit worthyness with them. It amazes me that they can just change terms on my account like that and just expect me to do what they say. I know their earnings are down, but so are mine.....! Any advice or help out there?

Its not JC Penney - its GE Money that is doing this.

GE Money manages the JC Penney credit accounts.

Expect a drastic credit limit decrease as well - GEMB is cutting everyone's credit limit, even their best customers now only have a $100.00 limit.

File complaints with the Federal Trade Commission. GEMB needs to be investigated !

Complain to JCPENNEY too, however if you send an email to the website - they will just forward to GEMB, when it needs to be sent to JCP executives.

You can reject the changes. This will result in you not being able to charge on the card anymore, but you will still have the old terms stay in effect.

So, your interest rate will stay the same, your payment due date will stay the same, and the minimum payments will remain the same.... and the plus of not being able to use the card is...

you can't use the card! This will reflect in your credit report as account closed by consumer, so it won't be dinged as creditor closing the account.

I find your response harsh. Also, if I knew where you worked, I would boycott your business for the rest of my life. So, the message I am sending out is this: don't be harsh and not practical.

It sounds like the people should have invested in accident insurance supplement program. Those programs pay for all bills until the person is recovered fully.

As far a credit card is concerned, the card issuer has the right to take the card back at ANY TIME.

We bought a sofa on 2/23/08 and hoped to have it on the date of our daughter's graduation party. They've charged us for the deposit and the initial delivery was 8-10 weeks but now 4 months have past and every time We call them they promise a new date but never deliver. If they don't have the items in stock why they promise to the customers? We rather buy elsewhere in the future even it's more expensive. They don't take responsibility and they don't treat customer satisfaction. Never and never JCpenny.

Bought one furniture piece that was delivered broken. Took months to get them to pick it up again and refund money. Finally did. Took a chance and ordered coach/loveseat on 2/3/08, paid in full with credit card. As of 5/28/08 (almost four months later!) NO FURNITURE....

Reading things like this does not suprise me. As a former associate working at a JCPenney store I helped to load up a new boxed up bed for a couple twice at this store.

These folks were so patient on two different occasions the furniture was missing the nuts and bolts needed to put it together I am sure it was from China or Korea.

I was embarassed and at the time could not say a word to these folks except apologize. I agree take what money we have these days and run far from JCPenney's.

I was an installer for custom decorating for three years minus two weeks because after three years there is a company match for your retirement. I worked hard , most of the decorators liked me,as well the customers .

I trained two installers that were not really ready when I was let go,for not keeping up the proposed quota.

You can not hit the mark if the mark is not there.I feal that I was treated very unfairly.
