I have also noticed the difference. The Stafford Oxfords made in El Salvador feel "heavier" and have lasted much longer.

I wear them every day. I would love to find some more of these.

I have also noticed on the Essentials that if you crease the sleeve it becomes permanent and the next time you crease them it leaves railroad tracks if you don't line it up perfectly. The sign of a low quality fabric.

Ordered furniture online from JCP with the understanding based on a website advertisement that I also got the deferred payment option for purchases over $299....I spent $800. Two weeks later when the credit card bill arrived it did not show the deferred billing.... after several phone calls and extreme wait times with GM Credit and JCPenney Customer Service I got the runaround that the deferred billing was for jewelry....furniture had to be for $1,000....I NEVER SAW ANYTHING ABOUT JEWELRY AND NOTHING ABOUT ANY KIND OF PROMOTION RELATED TO FURNITURE! This was after GMCredit reported that there were no promotions going on at that time, per JCP. I was baited and reneged on! I will never purchase another thing at JCP---ever!!!! I have never had this type of issue with any other retailer having used deferred billing on several purchases from several different stores. JCP will not have my business again.

Your son spilled a drink in the store...I would appreciate the fact that you attempted to clean spill, but put yourself in their shoes. If someone would have slipped, the store would have been liable for your family's mistake.

Would you have paid for that person's medical bills? It's hard to believe that someone "kicked" you while you were on your hands and knees, but way to make it sound dramatic.

What did you want that manager to do when you told them that the associate was rude? Fire them on the spot?

Replacing gift cards are never easy. Everyone these days says treat it like cash.

However Penney's does a fantastic job at replacing gift cards!

He handled it well - but there is an even faster way they have came up with to replace these gift cards! :)

i have never seen my jcp credit card, it was took out my mailbox by someone and use on sept. 27th &29th ran it up to limit.

i just put salon charge on telephone when filled out for credit card og 60.39. THIS AMOUNT IS ALL I OWE, I WILL PROCUTE WHO DONE THIS.

Bought a recliner from JCPenney and it is faulty and they will not take it back

I purchased a recliner for my mother-in-law for Christmas. When we gave it to her she seemed to like it but the more she sat in it the more uncomfortable it became. You can feel the boards in the arms and footrest. As a matter of fact she has a sore on her arm from the chair. I called and want to return the chair and they informed me they have a no return policy. I would not have purchased the chair had I know this because it was a gift. They advised me it is on the reciept, which they hand you in a nice pamphlet so you can not see it. They should have advised me of the no return policy and also pointed it out on the reciept and sign it. I have called the store and the furniture store and was told a manager would call me back from both placed and that have been over 30 hours ago.

I bought two rocker recliners and chose them because they were very comfortable. a necessity for me due to illness.

The chairs they sent were not at all the same chairs i had chosen at the store>After much arguing and complaining I was allowed to pick two new chairs but when they arrived they were even harder in the seats than the two I sent back. I am stuck with chairs I cannot use because Penny engages in the old bait and switch scam.I will never spend another dime with those crooks.

I had been a loyal customer for over 50 years. Kiss my *** Pennys.

My husband bought me a braclet for Christmas, I had it for 3 wks., i could not wear it because the clasp would not stay closed so I tried to return along with my receipt, I had till 2/10/10 to do so., the lady would not take it back said it looked worn da ya think? How else would i have known the clasp was not working properly anyway their lost I closed my account with them and will never set foot in their store again.,I was a good customer even in these hard times I always paid on time oh and I cut up my jcp card right in front of the lady., she didn't even care they have *** poor attitudes beware if you buy from them and want to return it.

Jcpenney in Columbus, Ohio - JC Penney letter about raising my rate.

40 years as a customer. Furnishes a couple of houses over the years with merchandise from Penney's and was never, never late with a payment. My card is now in the safe and will not be used except twice a year to purchase a two dollar item. I will not continue to shop until rates ARE BELOW 15%. And at 15% these banking are still making enormous profits. I am also going to BLOG this info onto other sites about interest rate hikes....You should check out all the pissed off customers on the CITI bank BLOGS. Nuff said.

I always thought of Penney's as a "family friendly" store - I've been buying from them for years. I just noticed my credit card statement - 26.99 % interest! If they go a little higher, they'll be in competition w/ the loan sharks downtown. Anyway, I loathe greed and will no longer shop at Penneys. I also phoned them and shared my disappointment. It's amazing - I get around 2% interest on a big CD at the bank, and I'm supposed to pay 26.99% interest on a credit card.

I paid off LL Bean last year, and tossed their Barclay's card - when they jacked my interest rate above 25%.

I'll take this as a good lesson - buy only what I need, and pay cash for it.

My letter said rate hike from 21% to 26.99% effective 10-23-2010! I will be paying off and cancelling my account ASAP!

Credit Card Act of 2010 says they must notify us in writing 45 days in advance of an interest increase.

Contact the FTC! I will!!

SO we had a 15$bill that was paid late and they charged us $11.00 interested and they are saying we didnt pay thewhole $15 so charged another $11. So $22 NEW BILL....

I've shopped JC Penney all my life and have a very small balance on my JC Penney credit card. Typically I pay cash but since they are raising the interest rate to 23.99%, I'll pay off my $200 credit debt and never shop there again (even with cash). This only shows their corporate greed and as a result they lost any of my business in a day and age in which there are plenty of other shopping options.

I got a letter stating my credit card rate was increasing to 23%+ (can't remember the exact amount) but it's almost a quarter of what I'm paying back! What a rip off..

Jcpenney in Issaquah, Washington - Misled by sales rep, spent $300 on wrong product

Simply stated: My wife and I ordered blackout blinds for for our newborn's room, very clearly stating we needed blackout blinds. We purchased what the sales rep advised based upon our requests for $300. The order arrived, and the shades/blinds are the furthest thing from blackout than one could imagine. They allow in vast amounts of light. JC Penney insists it is my issue now, as they do not refund or fix special orders like this. I have sent them photos which clearly indicate the blinds do not block light, refusing to work with me. How is that we are being held responsible after making our request very clear, then going with the recommendation of the sales rep? If the reps don't know their products, or if their vendors misrepresent their product, we the customers should not be held accountable.

I agree the situation sucks. Big time. However you are not informing the public several things about you're comment.

Made to measure blinds are a signed contract between you and JCPenney, stating that you have 72 hours to look over the order, and review the information. Within this time frame you can review the merchandise, the measurements, and anything else your heart desires.

Why did you not do this within 72 hours? With this being a custom order this seems more than fair.

Bottom line: It was a signed contract. You had 72 hours to review the product. It's all yours, and its a *** situation :(
