I find your response harsh. Also, if I knew where you worked, I would boycott your business for the rest of my life. So, the message I am sending out is this: don't be harsh and not practical.

It sounds like the people should have invested in accident insurance supplement program. Those programs pay for all bills until the person is recovered fully.

As far a credit card is concerned, the card issuer has the right to take the card back at ANY TIME.

I hate this for you like many Americans you only did what you had to do. I truly hope you can get your card back but if not let this be a lesson to you and everyone else. I am never giving this company a penney of my business for the rest of my life and you need to do the same.

JCPenney Furniture SUCKS

Bought one furniture piece that was delivered broken. Took months to get them to pick it up again and refund money. Finally did. Took a chance and ordered coach/loveseat on 2/3/08, paid in full with credit card. As of 5/28/08 (almost four months later!) NO FURNITURE. After I nagged all last month, delivery person just called to INFORM us when he is coming this week -- when we aren't home. He refused to adjust the time or respond. Husband had to cancel business meeting. Meanwhile JCPenney has made $400 in interest at 8% on my money... while I have NOTHING. I am skeptical our furniture will ever arrive in an acceptable condition. We will NEVER shop at JCPenney AGAIN. Livid doesn't begin to describe it.

Reading things like this does not suprise me. As a former associate working at a JCPenney store I helped to load up a new boxed up bed for a couple twice at this store.

These folks were so patient on two different occasions the furniture was missing the nuts and bolts needed to put it together I am sure it was from China or Korea.

I was embarassed and at the time could not say a word to these folks except apologize. I agree take what money we have these days and run far from JCPenney's.

They are horrendous and very good at washing their hands. If you don't have the furniture yet, get your money back and shop elsewhere!

I was sold a sofa and told it was leather. It turns out it's BICAST leather which means they split the cowhide and put a polymer on top that looks and feels like leather. IT IS NOT!!! It is so badly torn!!

And, the Guardsmen isurance we bought is a pain in the neck to work with. Take your money and run far from this store!

Im in the same situation, ordered sofa 2 months ago and still have not recieved it. Im pissed.

I am writing in support of the products I have purchased at J.C.Penney throughout the years. I am 60+ years old and my mother is 80 years old, and we have never had this type of experience in dealing with Penney's.

I have indeed had problems with a few of the items I purchased there, but the store has always stood behind their (sales) deals. I don't believe we can expect things to be like they were when we were younger. After all, almost everything we buy now is made out of this country and good workmanship isn't always a foreign manufacturer's main concern.

I must say, however, that never has the management at J.C.Penney ever turned their backs on any of the sales that they made to me or my family and friends. I hate that it happened to you, but believe a manager could have rectified the situation.

J.C. Penney ripped me off!

I bought several pieces of gold jewelry, online, via J.C. Penney. They sent me a receipt stating the s&h would be $22.93. I waited for weeks for the order, and finally checked the tracking page where I discovered that Penney's allowed each of the different distributors to tack on additional s&h fees to my order, which was being shipped in five separate packages, for an additional $81.63!!! That was in addition to the $22.93, Penney's said they were charging! I complained, and complained, returned the junky jewelry which cost $400.00, plus more than $100.00 to ship that trash! They only reimbursed me $41.00!!!! I am so angry. Nowhere did the receipt, or order page on the Penney catalog site say that there may be additional shipping and handling charges!! Do not buy from Penney's online,..especially jewelry. They are such a rip off!!!! I am turning them into the Attorney General for my state to follow up on this rip off.

I had a similar experience with extended wait time and excessive, unmentioned shipping fees on a few gifts I ordered. Definitely not the best online experience! :(

Manager's Attitude

I recently bought a pair of shoes at the J.C. Penny store in Ardmore, Oklahoma. I used a $10.00 off coupon for a pair of shoes that were $19.99. When I got the shoes home, I realized they didn't look good with the outfit for which I bought them. I went immediately back to the store to return them. The clerk who waited on me was pleasant enough. I asked her if I could get my coupon back since I wanted to buy a different pair of shoes. She said they shred them when you use them but that I could talk to a manager about it. I said that I would like to. The manager came over, looked at my receipt and said, "You've only had the shoes for five minutes, why are you already bringing them back?" She was so rude about it. What the ***...I didn't know there was a compulsory time that you had to keep merchandise before you brought it back. I said to the manager, "Forget it. I don't need the coupon." She apologized then and said, "I'll give you the coupon back." I didn't really care if I ever shop in the Penney's in Ardmore again or not. The store is full of rude associates and managers.

Some stores are horrible. People are so rude and inconsiderate. But people also need to realize there are some good associates that are good and caring!

I haven't had a bad experience with JC Penny but I have had bad experiences with young kids and young managers at other stores. It seems to be a trend that no one cares about customer service and all the care about is themselves. Such is life in the 2100 century.

I just resigned today from JCP. More than half of the managers that worked at my store, arent worth ***. They are too busy roaming around the store, like there at a beauty pageant, checking out the male customers...and this is when they arent flirting with the store assistant manager, and they are suppose to "role models" are you kidding me.

I certainly agree that was a very rude way to handle a transaction (and frequently the managers are worse than the clerks).

However, I worked at JCPenney for a few months, and the policy is that a coupon can not be returned. Ever. In any case. However, that is why when someone uses a coupon, the clerk should warn you about that.

Just saying. Not defending JCPenney, but just an fyi.

What a shame this should be a lesson to folks that value customer service. When corporations like JCPenney hire managers such as this they deserve to lose business. There are many other great retailers ready and willing to give super customer service!

I was turned down for a Credit increase by JC Penney (GE) because of something a credit report says. I was turned down automatically in 2 seconds. They didn't take time to check anything! I have a great FICO store and literally no debt except house. I checked with all 3 credit reporting agencies and they even said GE did not make an inquiry. I'm canceling all cards issued by this company! I don't know why any company would use GE Money bank to manage credit for their companies. I will stop shopping at JC Penny because of this as well

I will like too connected whit my e-mail account service. :grin :grin

I believe I have been a victim of a recent ploy by GEmoneybank to stop sending statements to seom individuals. I have been a stellar customer, always paying my bills in full and never being late.

They tell me my statments were mailed...I recieve everything else, just not theirs. I have never received an electronic statements either. And, they do not allow you to set up "pay automatic minimum payment" as a safeguard.

In my efforts to have GEmoneybank correct their hasty "late" reporting to my credit record it has come to my attention that they manage for Sam's, Walmart, JC Penney as well.

I know this because everytime I write to them about my Ebay mastercard they send me a letter stating "thank you for your inquiry on your WALMART account...I don't have any of these others!!!

Pure incompetence at GE moneybank and they have control of our FICA future! I'm concerned because I need to co-sign my kids student loans and as of today this stellar consumer doesn't qualify.

They did detroy my FICA score. They decided to stop sending me my paper statements and claimed they were coming electronically.I have always paid my credit card bills in full.

I did not know my husband had bought something on Ebay and we didn't know we wouldn't receive ANY statement. Ebay mastercard called bright and early one Saturday moring to collect my $62.10 past-due payment. I was aghast, having never been late or missed any payment in my 30 yr credit history. I paid it and they refunded the late fee.

Same thing happened 2 months later. With a zero balance and a $10K credit line, they then reported me having been late 2 months in a row. My FICA plummeted 150 points from 791 to 640! I do not qualify for a mortgage refi now.

It has been a 3 month nightmare! I've written to everyone, filed a FTC complaint etc.

JCP just e-mailed my lastest bill and charged me a late fee for last month. I received bill 2/1/2010 and paid same day.

My bill for 3/1/2010 has a late fee for Feb. which was paid 2/1/2010. They have admitted the error and are willing to reverse the late fee but still say I owe double the min payment for this month. DUH the rep suggeested from now on I wait to for a couple of days.

Something is wrong with their accounting/IT dept. Supervisor will not correct error or let me tslk to cutomer service. Until I bring the account current.

Opps the account is current they admitted that. BULL I hate talking to Indians they have to go by their script and can not think for themselves.

i just recived a letter from jcp credit and i was told that they reduced my credit line dowm from 700.00 to 100.00 or the balance on my account. i called and asked why.

i was told it was something on my credit report . i checked it and then call them back and told them my report was fine , i was then told it was due to the amounts i owe on other cards. i told them just to cancel the account . later i got a email from them telling me i was a value to them and that they were sorry to see i canceld my jcp card.

i call them back and told them to remove my from all of the list and i will never shop in a jcp store.

i then told them i was not worthy to have the jcp card so i was not worthy to shop their also. but told them not to worry sears issued me a card and would love to have me shop in thier store.

That is the best thing you can do, otherwise it is just a matter of time before they really mess up your credit score

GEMB violates

Fair Credit Billing Act

Electronic Funds Transfer Act

Fair Credit Reporting Act.

When they are responsible for errors to your accounts, they will just lie to you and do nothing to fix it.

They also lost 650,000 customer records in Oct 07, did not publicly report it until Jan 08, and did not make an honest effort to notify account holders of the potential for identity theft.

The data was on a magnetic tape at a storage facility. they claim to have found it and also claim it was not accessed. They also think their customers are ***.

There are too many people who could have accessed that data tape without leaving a trace.

So you are better off without them in your life.

There are many other high end retailers that would be happy to accept a credit increase for a loyal customer. I dont blame you at all for being upset over this issue.

First off the department did not steal your money, if anyone did it was the company. Second, try contacting someone besides the truck company to find out what happened before complaining about it.

Yes they should have let you know if it was cancelled, I've gone through this myself waiting over a month to finally get the merchandise but I did get it. If they cancelled your order it wouldn't have been sent out which means they wouldn't have charged your card (Making an assumption you used a card since just shipping was $274).

Yes you received a receipt but that's just to show you ordered it. I would suggest you buy items in stores from now on seems like this was a little too much for you to handle.

JC Penney Co. advertising

The Friday Preview ad for June 1, 2007 displays a very discouraging picture of a model in a swim suit. If you look on the back page of the flyer (mine came in the Friday, June 1st Milwaukee Journal, you will notice a very very thin model on the left ( in a black bikini bottom and black and white striped top) who appears to have an eating disorder. Is this the message we want to send to young people? I find this disturbing and inexcusable. Penney's must display responsible advertising, if there is such a thing.
