JC Penney Disrespects Tall, Blind Grandpa

I'll just post the conversation to you... and you can get the drift. 57 year old daughter (me) and blind 88 year old father (my dad) who is 6'6" tall walk into JC Penney's. My father, who has a blind cane, and I approach a clerk in the Men's Wear Department to buy a suite for my dad's grandson's wedding. Me: "Can I get help to find a Tall suit for my dad." JC Penney: "Not here." Me: "I thought you carried Talls?" JC Penney: "Maybe in the tall department." flipping her hand in that direction. Me: "What about suits? Are there suites over there?" JC Penney: "No." Me: "If we find the right sized waist here, can we order it online from you?" JC Penney: "Well if they have it online." She found 2 pairs of pants and handed them to my dad, with no jacket to match, and walked away. After trying them on, I asked "what do you think?" to the store clerk. JC Penney: "He needs a tall." Me: I just stand and stare blankly. JC Penney: "If you want those pants, you can go on the internet and find out if they carry it in tall." (meaning to do it myself) Me: "oookaaay" A little irritated, I returned everything to the rack. I was then approached by a young man who asked if he could help me with anything. The original clerk we were working with called him away to help her with a transaction/another customer. So we left. So today, I'm headed to John's Suit Shop to find a suit for my dad. I hope to buy two and spend over $500... sorry JC Penney. But not really.

what do you expect, its a min wage job. we arent your personal shoppers.

Ugh. That's absolutely horrible.

I worked at JCPenney and I can attest that while some people were very friendly, way too many workers were exactly like the one you encountered.

They just don't care.

I honestly don't know why JCPenney has so many workers like this. It's a shame.

#87591

Thanks for your input. Some of those clerks are really rude.

My nephew is 6'7" and he just wants a simple pair of demin farmer overalls that are long enough for him. Any idea where I can find them?

From the get-go I was harassed by the trainer and supervisors when I did everything right to earn their *** customer service awards and DID! I have a disability and I have done everything right, if not better than a few people I know.

It just goes to show that JCP doesn't care about it's employees a single bit.

The reason I was fired was that I supposedly yelled at a customer. I DID NOT! I even gave her a huge discount she didn't deserve.

What a bunch of BS. I am considering a lawsuit as well.

Stupied customers

usually its the customer not the service that is bad they will not buy products recommended instead they use that cheap *** spend 70 bucks for your hair and use 3 dollar *** on it makes no sense they will get cheap henna for their hair and color it themselves then get agood perm on that already fired and dried straw.i feel sorry for sherry having to deal with someone whom its obvious probably does not care about her hair. i have given numerous perms and heard every story a tight wad customer can come uo with and believe me 99 percent of the time it is the customer

JC Penney website's "Free" shipping not free

JC Penney's website says that the company offers "free shipping on orders of $49 or more" , but it is a scam. The company charges you for shipping if you order a clearance item, even if your non-clearance items cost more than $49. Their website also doesn't show the shipping charge until the next day. When you call to get the fee removed, the "customer service" people tell you that they can't remove the shipping charge, and they tell you to call corporate headquarters. The offer says "Free shipping on your order", but then JC Penney charges you per item, not per order.

ripped by jcp.com

took my money on a hundred dollar blanket order, almost 2 weeks and received nothing via USPS...went with USPS because of a free shipping code...

filing a complaint with consumer fraud/atty. generals office in my state.

first and last purchase from jcp in 15 years, they can go ahead and go bankrupt like monkey wards...couldn't care less about loss of U.S. jobs...they stole from me...

#74661

If you have a printed order confirmation showing NO SHIPPING, a simple call to your credit card will get that fee added late removed easily.

That said, I have come to hate JCPenney.com recently using USPS for shipping. You can't track packages and one order of mine never showed, so they had to reship it.

A second, that UPS would have had here days ago is still missing. Ugh!

Jcpenney - Company Practices Review from Washington, District Of Columbia

I would caution everyone about complaints about JC. As an author, I use them for actors for trailer. I find exactly what I am looking for at JC in MD. People will find you, but take the time to put your name out there on the web. There are a lot of sites that look for talent. Check it out prior to bashing anyone. Just know that when someone is looking for talent, they don't want someone that complains all the time. Remember this if anything. You are not the only person trying to suceed at what you do.

Dollar off coupons.

I am a frequent shopper of JC Penney. I use my credit card on a regular basis. I never get birthday coupons or mothers day/fathers Day coupons etc. Why?????? I have thought of quitting JC Penney and getting rid of my card because I am tired of seeing other people with these lovely coupons when you get my money but I never get the coupons. Why are your customers being treated different. (Is there no diversity when it comes to your customers? I would like to know who makes these decisions as to who gets birthday/holiday cupons and who doesn't.

I Was Asked To Leave By An Associate At JCPenny Store

I Was In The Store Today In New Braunfels Texas to see what sales I could find since our state was doing a Tax Free weekend. I walked the store as Ive done before and stopped and glanced at the shoes only to be annoyed that the 3 employees working the department were all loud and talking to each other and other customers were helping them selves so I kept Walking on. Finding the small kitchen appliance's I looked at the microwaves and other home products with no problem then i continued to the men's clothing are first was the dress clothes and then sportswear's where I usually shop but today i was interested in jeans so that's where I headed I usually take a while to decide on what jeans if any I really like doesn't matter what store I'm at so I'm looking at some t-shirts that are directly in front of the jeans then i make my way to the jeans and there is a young teenage associate working the men's jean department she says hello and I reply back hello and how was her day going she told me fine and if I was finding everything OK I said yes she was very Friendly. She then stated to me she had to re-due the jean shelves along the wall because there were all mixed up with the sizes and shades. That being said i continued to look around not just in her area but all around as well but the are she immediately was in had the type of Levi's Jeans I really like to wear so I waited around a bit looked at there cheaply priced jeans and walked around a bit then went around to her area she asked me what type of jean and the shade i liked she showed me a couple we chatted a bit and I continued walking around and sizing up the other styles and shades the whole time! I had been in the department i guess only 10 mins and one of her bosses who had been looking at me while i was browsing most of the time came to the female associate and asked if he could talk to her a minute! a couple of minutes later she comes back and says that her boss told her to tell me that i needed to leave and that if i didn't leave when she asked me to that he would ask me to leave and that if i was shopping to shop and it would be fine! by no means was i flirting or all over the female employee hello shes a teenager and I'm an adult way over the legal age to know better anyway she would be jail bait! I have a partner I don't need to hit on a child thank you! So I went ahead and left *** coward wouldn't show his face to me so he could tell me in person! I will not go back to that store at all! I always take my time looking and browsing at stores like Bealls and Macy's with no problem it makes no sense to me I was not wearing baggy clothes to give him the idea i was gonna steal besides that would be a *** stereotype i don't fit in at all! Not that its anyone's business to tell me how to dress! Or for me to tell anyone else... guess were limited to 10 minuets at the New Braunfels Store!

if the 'boss' was so concerned about her then why did he have her tell you to leave? sounds like the manager was jealous of her giving you the attention he wished he would get.

personally I hate jcp I used to shop there when my children were young I haven't shopped there in decades.

#339089

I would have kicked this guy out if I were the manager as well. This shows good treatment of employees on JCPenney management's part IMO. I would have been creeped out if I were her as well if a 47 year old man was hitting on me and asked for a phone number.

I think people are going a bit far calling this guy a ***, however. The definition of *** is someone with a sexual attraction to prepubescent children. Most 16-17 year olds are pretty much fully developed. *** yes; ***, no.

Also, assuming that this girl was below the age of consent in the OP's home state, it is not illegal for him to be hitting on this girl. If he tried to make obvious sexual advances or, of course, he actually performed sexual acts, THAT'S when there's a problem (as far as the law is concerned). There's a decent chance that she was of the age of consent, however, considering that she was most likely 16+ given the minimum hiring age of most stores.

I'm obviously not defending the guy though, he's a *** and really has no business hitting on a ~16 year old girl. The manager did the right thing by kicking this guy out of the store; as I stated, I would have done the same thing if I were in his position. (By the sounds of it, the OP was told that he needed to stop or leave the store, which is what I would have done. I would have approached him directly after talking to the employee though, which I can't tell if he did or not by the OP's mixed stories.) Definitely not cool to be giving a store and a manager a bad name with a story that distorts and omits many details that would justify the manager's actions. I've personally had nothing but good experiences with JCP, including their management.

#336761

Well, usually they ask you to leave the store if you appear suspicious. But if you really weren't doing anything wrong and were just browsing then I don't know why they would kick you out.

I work at a JCPenney and we always have customers that just like to browse around and take their time but since I've worked there we've never asked any of them to just leave because they were acting suspicious. Who knows, from the sounds of it the associates didn't care about the customer anyways. I mean, really, you entered and they didn't even greet you?

My manager would be all on my back if I didn't greet customers when they walked in. Guess you just walked into the wrong store because that sounds a little weird to me.

#274198

sounds like your the one hitting on young girls. GET A LIFE AND SEEK COUNSELING

#274196

people act on what they see, I only hear 1 side of the story, if they had a reason to act, THEN , maybe they had a reason to act, you mentioned pedophilia in your statement, are you sure it wasn't YOU????

#244885

run..... on ...... sentence

#234007

Sounds like the guy is a ***. You are lucky that the LP didn't have you arrested for hitting on juvenile young women.

No wonder why you were asked to leave the store.

As far as your wife leaving you, I can't blame her.

I wouldn't want a *** near my children either or other children in general. Do your self a favor, get help right now.

#218818

I am glad the manager kicked this *** out of the store. It shows that JC Penney cares more about their employees than their sales. Obviously the people who think the manager is in the wrong do not find anything wrong with grown married men trying to pick up 16-17 year old girls.

#218598

I am sure that the parents of the teenager would be even more angry that the manager allowed a *** who was hitting on their daughter to continue shopping in the store. The manager is not an *** it is this *** who likes to pick up underaged women that is.

#218597

What are you saying Jennifer. you type likea two year old yourself.

Not to mention act like one. Perhaps you are a bad parent who does not care if the child falls off the changing stand so she had to tell you. You allowed your two year old to do something that could have hurt him seriously and you still have your children in care rather than a foster home. If they are not going to remove your children for your stupidity why should they fire her for doing your job as a parent.

To the OP, thanks for the confessin but you are 47 she is like a teenager and you are hitting on her that is illegal.

Too bad the manager did not call the police on you.

40 and older men who hit on teenagers get what's coming to them in jail. It would not be her who would be jail bait it would be you.

Late charges

Have been charged $29.00 on a billing of $43.69, I want that charge removed or our two JCP cards will be destroyed. You need customers more than we need you. We are retired and live on a fixed income, we pay our bills after receiving Social Security checks sometimes making it difficult to meet your payment date requirements. There have been past late payments that have been reversed by your system automatically. We would expect the same for this transaction. Please advise your decision promptly, we await your answer and will send a check in the amount of $17.46 today. The Perry's. Perryjohn9@***.com.

I just got a $15 late charge, although I paid my balance two days early. I sent the check, along with the eight pieces of my former JC Penney card.

If that's how this company does business, I will NEVER do business with them again. Just another bunch of "SHYSTERS" trying to screw the customer.

SCAMMED

After making a purchase at JC Penney online, I started seeing $9.95 automatic deductions from my bank account. Unknowingly, I was signed up for some Fun Family Rewards Program. I feel that it is not right for a company to automatically give your information to a third party company, or charge your account, without conspicuously posting it is going to do so. During this time where my account was being charged, I never even received any rewards! I've never been duped in this way from other online (and store) retailers like this before! I am extremely disappointed and JC Penney has lost a customer for life (along with those customers I know too)!

I had the same problem. To make it worse, when I asked for proof we signed up for this, neither JCP or SB could prove I'd signed up or they had sent me any membership info or coupons.

The SB site (once I found it) doesn't even have a phone number or email address. If you look up SB on the internet there are PAGES of people who say that their personal and credit card information was given to SB without permission. SB was extremely rude and refused to fully refund my money.

I wrote a review about the whole experience. If you look for my user name you can see it and read the full story.

#86946

this is a scam when you buy something on line they offer you 10.00 off you click yes and you join? fun family rewards? 10.00 a month for the rest of your life not much fun

#61019

You can call this company and have them cancel this charge. If you don't have the telephone # your bank can give you the #.

Also if they say you can't (don't back down.) Don't let them tell you that you signed for it. Threaten them or what ever it takes.

Also let them know that you want to be reimbursed back into your account. Good Luck

JC PENNEY'S HAS LOST MY BUSINESS

Due to GE Money Bank deciding to lower my credit limit on my JC Penney's credit card which I have had for over 10 years and never paid late, I will NEVER shop at Penney's again. I realize Penney's didn't make this decision and that's what it states in the letter, but they also didn't change credit management companies and allowed GE Money Bank to lower my limit, so ultimately they are the ones who are going to lose my business. I received the letter lowering my limit at the beginning of December just in time to ruin my holiday shopping, but that's okay. In the end, as the consumer, I am the one who decides how I react to this and other events that are happening in our economy today. I cut up my Penney's card and will never step foot in one of their stores again.
