I Was Asked To Leave By An Associate At JCPenny Store

I Was In The Store Today In New Braunfels Texas to see what sales I could find since our state was doing a Tax Free weekend. I walked the store as Ive done before and stopped and glanced at the shoes only to be annoyed that the 3 employees working the department were all loud and talking to each other and other customers were helping them selves so I kept Walking on. Finding the small kitchen appliance's I looked at the microwaves and other home products with no problem then i continued to the men's clothing are first was the dress clothes and then sportswear's where I usually shop but today i was interested in jeans so that's where I headed I usually take a while to decide on what jeans if any I really like doesn't matter what store I'm at so I'm looking at some t-shirts that are directly in front of the jeans then i make my way to the jeans and there is a young teenage associate working the men's jean department she says hello and I reply back hello and how was her day going she told me fine and if I was finding everything OK I said yes she was very Friendly. She then stated to me she had to re-due the jean shelves along the wall because there were all mixed up with the sizes and shades. That being said i continued to look around not just in her area but all around as well but the are she immediately was in had the type of Levi's Jeans I really like to wear so I waited around a bit looked at there cheaply priced jeans and walked around a bit then went around to her area she asked me what type of jean and the shade i liked she showed me a couple we chatted a bit and I continued walking around and sizing up the other styles and shades the whole time! I had been in the department i guess only 10 mins and one of her bosses who had been looking at me while i was browsing most of the time came to the female associate and asked if he could talk to her a minute! a couple of minutes later she comes back and says that her boss told her to tell me that i needed to leave and that if i didn't leave when she asked me to that he would ask me to leave and that if i was shopping to shop and it would be fine! by no means was i flirting or all over the female employee hello shes a teenager and I'm an adult way over the legal age to know better anyway she would be jail bait! I have a partner I don't need to hit on a child thank you! So I went ahead and left *** coward wouldn't show his face to me so he could tell me in person! I will not go back to that store at all! I always take my time looking and browsing at stores like Bealls and Macy's with no problem it makes no sense to me I was not wearing baggy clothes to give him the idea i was gonna steal besides that would be a *** stereotype i don't fit in at all! Not that its anyone's business to tell me how to dress! Or for me to tell anyone else... guess were limited to 10 minuets at the New Braunfels Store!

if the 'boss' was so concerned about her then why did he have her tell you to leave? sounds like the manager was jealous of her giving you the attention he wished he would get.

personally I hate jcp I used to shop there when my children were young I haven't shopped there in decades.

#339089

I would have kicked this guy out if I were the manager as well. This shows good treatment of employees on JCPenney management's part IMO. I would have been creeped out if I were her as well if a 47 year old man was hitting on me and asked for a phone number.

I think people are going a bit far calling this guy a ***, however. The definition of *** is someone with a sexual attraction to prepubescent children. Most 16-17 year olds are pretty much fully developed. *** yes; ***, no.

Also, assuming that this girl was below the age of consent in the OP's home state, it is not illegal for him to be hitting on this girl. If he tried to make obvious sexual advances or, of course, he actually performed sexual acts, THAT'S when there's a problem (as far as the law is concerned). There's a decent chance that she was of the age of consent, however, considering that she was most likely 16+ given the minimum hiring age of most stores.

I'm obviously not defending the guy though, he's a *** and really has no business hitting on a ~16 year old girl. The manager did the right thing by kicking this guy out of the store; as I stated, I would have done the same thing if I were in his position. (By the sounds of it, the OP was told that he needed to stop or leave the store, which is what I would have done. I would have approached him directly after talking to the employee though, which I can't tell if he did or not by the OP's mixed stories.) Definitely not cool to be giving a store and a manager a bad name with a story that distorts and omits many details that would justify the manager's actions. I've personally had nothing but good experiences with JCP, including their management.

#336761

Well, usually they ask you to leave the store if you appear suspicious. But if you really weren't doing anything wrong and were just browsing then I don't know why they would kick you out.

I work at a JCPenney and we always have customers that just like to browse around and take their time but since I've worked there we've never asked any of them to just leave because they were acting suspicious. Who knows, from the sounds of it the associates didn't care about the customer anyways. I mean, really, you entered and they didn't even greet you?

My manager would be all on my back if I didn't greet customers when they walked in. Guess you just walked into the wrong store because that sounds a little weird to me.

#274198

sounds like your the one hitting on young girls. GET A LIFE AND SEEK COUNSELING

#274196

people act on what they see, I only hear 1 side of the story, if they had a reason to act, THEN , maybe they had a reason to act, you mentioned pedophilia in your statement, are you sure it wasn't YOU????

#244885

run..... on ...... sentence

#234007

Sounds like the guy is a ***. You are lucky that the LP didn't have you arrested for hitting on juvenile young women.

No wonder why you were asked to leave the store.

As far as your wife leaving you, I can't blame her.

I wouldn't want a *** near my children either or other children in general. Do your self a favor, get help right now.

#218818

I am glad the manager kicked this *** out of the store. It shows that JC Penney cares more about their employees than their sales. Obviously the people who think the manager is in the wrong do not find anything wrong with grown married men trying to pick up 16-17 year old girls.

#218598

I am sure that the parents of the teenager would be even more angry that the manager allowed a *** who was hitting on their daughter to continue shopping in the store. The manager is not an *** it is this *** who likes to pick up underaged women that is.

#218597

What are you saying Jennifer. you type likea two year old yourself.

Not to mention act like one. Perhaps you are a bad parent who does not care if the child falls off the changing stand so she had to tell you. You allowed your two year old to do something that could have hurt him seriously and you still have your children in care rather than a foster home. If they are not going to remove your children for your stupidity why should they fire her for doing your job as a parent.

To the OP, thanks for the confessin but you are 47 she is like a teenager and you are hitting on her that is illegal.

Too bad the manager did not call the police on you.

40 and older men who hit on teenagers get what's coming to them in jail. It would not be her who would be jail bait it would be you.

JC Penny's has become the worst department store account to have. It has the highest interest rate of all I use.

Their days are numbered and will soon go the way of others. Good riddins.

Late charges

Have been charged $29.00 on a billing of $43.69, I want that charge removed or our two JCP cards will be destroyed. You need customers more than we need you. We are retired and live on a fixed income, we pay our bills after receiving Social Security checks sometimes making it difficult to meet your payment date requirements. There have been past late payments that have been reversed by your system automatically. We would expect the same for this transaction. Please advise your decision promptly, we await your answer and will send a check in the amount of $17.46 today. The Perry's. Perryjohn9@***.com.

I just got a $15 late charge, although I paid my balance two days early. I sent the check, along with the eight pieces of my former JC Penney card.

If that's how this company does business, I will NEVER do business with them again. Just another bunch of "SHYSTERS" trying to screw the customer.

SCAMMED

After making a purchase at JC Penney online, I started seeing $9.95 automatic deductions from my bank account. Unknowingly, I was signed up for some Fun Family Rewards Program. I feel that it is not right for a company to automatically give your information to a third party company, or charge your account, without conspicuously posting it is going to do so. During this time where my account was being charged, I never even received any rewards! I've never been duped in this way from other online (and store) retailers like this before! I am extremely disappointed and JC Penney has lost a customer for life (along with those customers I know too)!

I had the same problem. To make it worse, when I asked for proof we signed up for this, neither JCP or SB could prove I'd signed up or they had sent me any membership info or coupons.

The SB site (once I found it) doesn't even have a phone number or email address. If you look up SB on the internet there are PAGES of people who say that their personal and credit card information was given to SB without permission. SB was extremely rude and refused to fully refund my money.

I wrote a review about the whole experience. If you look for my user name you can see it and read the full story.

#86946

this is a scam when you buy something on line they offer you 10.00 off you click yes and you join? fun family rewards? 10.00 a month for the rest of your life not much fun

#61019

You can call this company and have them cancel this charge. If you don't have the telephone # your bank can give you the #.

Also if they say you can't (don't back down.) Don't let them tell you that you signed for it. Threaten them or what ever it takes.

Also let them know that you want to be reimbursed back into your account. Good Luck

JC PENNEY'S HAS LOST MY BUSINESS

Due to GE Money Bank deciding to lower my credit limit on my JC Penney's credit card which I have had for over 10 years and never paid late, I will NEVER shop at Penney's again. I realize Penney's didn't make this decision and that's what it states in the letter, but they also didn't change credit management companies and allowed GE Money Bank to lower my limit, so ultimately they are the ones who are going to lose my business. I received the letter lowering my limit at the beginning of December just in time to ruin my holiday shopping, but that's okay. In the end, as the consumer, I am the one who decides how I react to this and other events that are happening in our economy today. I cut up my Penney's card and will never step foot in one of their stores again.

Why is a nine year old such as yourself driving anyway? Obviously you are too young to get a license, after all you can't spell "since" and "special" correctly so you must be nine years old or really ***.

The typing all in caps just tells us you are a little kid that "borrowed" their parents car. Like I said either you are a little kid or you are someone that is really ***.

Penney's Credit Card. Interest charges.

I did not receive any bill in October. You charged me interest on the Nov bill. It was never received. I always pay my bills as soon as I receive them. Please check back on my credit card and you will find every bill has been paid as soon as received. It's only $1.00 interest but I am still annoyed. And I don't need 100 words to tell you this. It would be nice if you could implement some type of system that would automatically send out a second bill in case our lousy post office loses the mail. Rowena Naranjo johnandrowena@***.net

In response to the author above about the credit card statement, several things remain in tact. They are not required to send you a paper statement in the mail.

That statement is a courtesy reminder to pay your bill. You can go online and view your account.

If you know that you owe money on your account, pay it. Don't blame the company for your lack of common sense.

#67523

I hope that people will wise up and not use your credit cards and let the company get bit in the butt for it.Its just making serious stress conditions on the consumer and families too.

ITs hard but just say NO and cut the cards up ! Keep a major one and ditch the rest.Be responsible!

#46876

First off - its GE Money that handles the JC Penney accounts. They are responsible for not sending the statements. They send them under JCP, but GEMB manages the accounts.

Its a ploy they use to pad bills.

Its also a violation of the Fair Credit Billing Act. www.ftc.gov for more info on Fair Credit Billing Act.

Forget trying to deal with GEMB - they will ignore your valid complaint.

File complaints with the Federal Trade Commission AND Office of Thrift Supervision.

YOU HAVE TO DO BOTH!

They cannot ignore the complaints received via the Office of Thrift Supervision and will resolve the issue quickly.

The FTC and OTS cannot enforce Federal Lending Laws with GEMB if no one reports their violations to them.

Not Standing Behind Warranty

I am extremely disappointed in the Sealy Pillowtop Mattress which I purchased at the end of May, 2007, from JC Penney. I started noticing this problem in February, 2008 and called them. After several telephone calls, I was finally sent a form to fill out - a warranty form. I purchased one of the top of the line mattresses (or so I was told). One side of it has already got an indentation in it and when I sleep there, I wake up with a sore back. They sent "a technician" out to look at it and he told me that "these mattresses are famous for this problem". Last night, I got a telephone call from JC Penney's telling me that although the technician found an indentation, it is not substantial enough to warrant replacing. I have been a customer and credit card holder of JC Penneys since 1978. Not anymore. I paid off my account and am closing it.

The Mattress companies make all those decisions. This should be listed under sealy not jc penney.

Call sealy directly 1-800-MY-SEALY, don't trust penneys, call Sealy back and don't give in they will cave eventually.

Interest Rate Hike with Higher Min. Payments

I have had an account at JC Penney for many years. Today I received notice that they were increasing my interest rate, decreasing the time in which I can make payment after receiving the monthly bill and increasing the payment amount on my balance. All this is legal and with the economy what it is, I don't know if I will be able to maintain my credit worthyness with them. It amazes me that they can just change terms on my account like that and just expect me to do what they say. I know their earnings are down, but so are mine.....! Any advice or help out there?

Its not JC Penney - its GE Money that is doing this.

GE Money manages the JC Penney credit accounts.

Expect a drastic credit limit decrease as well - GEMB is cutting everyone's credit limit, even their best customers now only have a $100.00 limit.

File complaints with the Federal Trade Commission. GEMB needs to be investigated !

Complain to JCPENNEY too, however if you send an email to the website - they will just forward to GEMB, when it needs to be sent to JCP executives.

#43225

What a shame in this economy this company should understand and try to help it customers. I hope things work out for your family JCPenney needs to wise up and put its customers first.

#41859

You can reject the changes. This will result in you not being able to charge on the card anymore, but you will still have the old terms stay in effect.

So, your interest rate will stay the same, your payment due date will stay the same, and the minimum payments will remain the same.... and the plus of not being able to use the card is...

you can't use the card! This will reflect in your credit report as account closed by consumer, so it won't be dinged as creditor closing the account.

Purchased A watch-had to buy a additional watchband

I purchased a Bulova watch as a birthday gift. I paid $160 dollars for it from JC Penny store. The watchband was too tight so I brought back the watch. Another watchband had to be bought so an additional $20 was added to purchase. I believe the store could have taken the band back and exchanged it. No way, JC Penny was not helpful, totally not with it in Customer Service. I told them to keep the original band and give it to someone else with that size wrist. Customer service is not exisitence, and clerk all have too much time on their hands.
