JCPenney - Cancelled card due to two years of inactivity
5 comments
J C Penney has cancelled my credit card that I have held for over forty years due to two and a half years of inactivity, I have been a credit card holder for over forty years and and a shopper with J C Penney for over sixty years and this is how they treat their longtime loyal customers, this is shamefull and dispicable. No wonder they are in such financial instability I will never shop at any of their stores again. J C Penney should be ashamed of themselves for this kind of behavior, your customer appreciation sucks big time !!!

I am sorry this happened. But the JC Penney credit card is not owned by the company.
The finance companies will close accounts for a couple reasons. In-active for a long period of time 1. Being your credit safety - the customer may have lost the card or had it stolen and may not know it.
2.For their own protection, the customer may have passed away and if they were not notified to close out the account then someone else could start using it. This is a reason major credit cards have expiration dates.
Once again, I've said this many times:
The JCPenney credit card is not held by JCPenney. The card is through GE Credit.
Their policy is to close all accounts that have been inactive for more than 18 months.
JCPenney did not do anything wrong by cancelling your card after 2 and 1/2 years of inactivity. If someone were to steal your card because you forgot you had this card that you did not use recently, you would have complained about this too.
The action taken by JCPenney is to help assist their customers so their identities do not get stolen.
You would just have to apply for a new card that takes approximatley 5 minutes, no big deal (at least to most people). If you would have used your credit card at JCPenney more recently you would not have had to deal with this hassle/
I find that funny.. they close it for your identity safety??
I just found out JCPenney closed my account less than a year ago. That i haven't used in over 15 years. Soooo, so much for them really caring about you.
They care about NOT MAKING MONEY OFF YOU oh well... That's why stores go bankrupt eventually
the same thing happened to me... they are chasing away consumers :( :( :(
